Chocolate A Day™: Multivitamin in Sugar-Free Decadent Belgian Chocolate Review

Disclosure: I received the below product in exchange for my honest review. All opinions and experiences are our own and may differ from those of your own.

Chocolate A Day
Chocolate A Day™ Deluxe Multivitamin is a delicious Belgian chocolate that is boosted full of meaningful vitamins and minerals. Chocolate A Day™ is gluten, dairy, sugar, fillers, waxes, substitute oils and preservative free. The chocolate is a smooth, pure dark chocolate that is crafted from meticulously selected cocoa beans that are roasted to perfection.  While eating a piece or two of savory chocolate per day is more enjoyable then swallowing vitamin pills every day, your body will also be able to better dissolve and absorb the fat-soluble vitamins; A, D, E and K due to the rich cocoa butter. Lets not forget that chocolate also has natural antioxidants.

We had the joy of trying out a box of Chocolate A Day ($24.95ARV). I let Dan have these as I'm not a fan of dark chocolate, which is okay. He loves chocolate more then probably 95% of the women that I know so I was definitely excited to receive this box of chocolate that I knew he would love, but that would also be much more healthier for him. He works a labor intensive job so I knew the vitamin boost would be great for him in many ways. It's impossible to get him to take a vitamin pill and those usually tear up both of our stomach's from the sudden overload in iron and other vitamins in which we typically get enough of in a day. I was a little nervous at first that he wouldn't want to eat it because it's healthy and sugar free, but since he is the huge chocolate lover that he is there was no issue with trying them. Once he tried them I did remind him... only One A Day!

Dan says that the chocolate tasted like ordinary smooth dark chocolate and was good, he couldn't tell that it was boosted with vitamins or that it was free of the unnecessary ingredients. He's not a very descriptive person and is losing his sense of taste, but as we know dark chocolate has a pretty strong taste to it. At the time I didn't think about tasting the chocolate for myself in order to try and give a more descriptive explanation of the taste. Either way, he liked it and finished the whole box. He normally doesn't follow through on things such as taking anything pill form whether it be medications or supplements/vitamins. I didn't have to remind him and when I did ask him if he had one or two for the day he had always ate them before I asked. So if you're looking for a way to get your chocolate loving husband to take his daily multivitamin then I highly suggest Chocolate A Day™!

A huge plus for both Dan and I is that Chocolate A Day did not cause him any stomach upset as he would usually get from taking a multivitamin or other supplements.

One of the things that I really liked about Chocolate A Day™ is that it's dairy free and sugar free. Dan is lactose intolerant and lactose intolerance is a rather common intolerance as well as gluten, both of which are not in Chocolate A Day™. I also like that it does not contain coconut oil or anything of the sort, I know it's a healthy ingredient however, Dan as well as our three year old son are both allergic to coconut. It seems as though nearly everything healthy contains coconut oil as well as things that aren't so healthy.

I would much rather spend the $25 on this box of multivitamin chocolates from Chocolate A Day than a bottle of multivitamin pills that wouldn't be finished in full anyhow.

Foster Farms Gluten Free Corn Dogs Review & Giveaway! 5 Winners! US 10/29

Disclosure: We received the below products in exchange for our honest review. All opinions and experiences are 100% our own and may differ from those of your own. Mami's 3 Little Monkeys blog holds no responsibility for the fulfillment of the below prize(s).

In August of this year Foster Farms introduced their Gluten Free version of their popular Honey Crunchy Corn Dogs. The gluten-free variety is the newest addition to the Foster Farms Corn Dog line which includes the number one selling corn dog product int eh nation. Foster Farms took the additional steps to have their new item approved by the leading gluten-free certification program in the world. Foster Farms Gluten Free Corn Dogs are made with 100% chicken franks and dipped twice in honey crunchy batter. These corn dogs are easy to heat up and eat, they make for a quick snack and easy meal for the whole family to enjoy.

“As the producer of the nation’s number one selling corn dog product, we are pleased to expand our offerings so that more kids and adults can now enjoy this American classic,” said Emily Fleischmann, Marketing Manager for Foster Farms.

Foster Farms Gluten Free Corn Dogs are certified by the Gluten Intolerance Group GIG through a program authorized by the Gluten Intolerance Group of North America. This certification guarantees that Foster Farms Gluten Free Corn Dogs meet strict guidelines and practices required by the GIG certification body. All facilities producing gluten free corn dogs are independently audited each year. All ingredients are required to be gluten-free and are labeled, stored and processed separately from all other products. Foster Farms Gluten Free Corn Dogs have less then 10 ppm of gluten per serving.

Foster Farms Gluten Free Corn Dogs are available in packages of 12. These corn dogs can be prepared in the microwave, conventional oven or even deep fried.

We love our Foster Farms Gluten Free Corn Dogs. They don't really taste different then non gluten free corn dogs. The only difference I noticed was that the breading is a bit more dry then other corn dog batters.  I like that these corn dogs are made with 100% chicken franks, personally I do not like all beef franks.

Foster Farms Gluten Free Corn Dogs have made dinner when momma is sick so much easier! Instead of cooking twenty different things for everyone I can just toss some corn dogs in and of course I still have to make Cade his chicken nuggets, but those are simple enough.

Jedilynn is kind of a finicky girl, she wasn't sure about trying these corn dogs because the box says, "Honey Crunchy". I'm not sure what she thought that meant, but she did in fact enjoy her corn dogs. She likes that she can make the corn dogs herself, she's very independent.

Glutino Gluten Free Perfect Pie Crust & Cornbread Stuffing Review

Disclosure: We received these products in exchange for our honest review, all opinions and experiences are 100% our own and may differ from those of your own.

In November we received a package from Glutino that included Gluten Free Cornbread Stuffing and Gluten Free Perfect Pie Crust. We used the Cornbread Stuffing for one of my favorite dishes! I will soon be using the pie crust for an apple pie! YUMMY!

I made my favorite Chilli Cornbread Casserole and substituted the cornbread with the cornbread stuffing, but one thing I forgot or just didn't think to take into consideration was that the stuffing would be much more thirsty then regular cornbread... Minus the very top of the cornbread topping it was still pretty moist, but there were some pretty dry parts which is my own fault.

I was a bit nervous to try Gluten Free Cornbread Stuffing. Why? Because for one I do not usually like to try new things, two I do not like stuffing at all and three it's Gluten Free and foods need gluten to taste right and have the correct texture right? Well, not so much the case with this delicious cornbread stuffing.

When I put this dish together, I browned my hamburger (1lb), drained the grease and added my seasoning. You can add any chilli or probably even taco seasoning you please, make it your own! While I fried up the hamburger I made the cornbread stuffing according to the box instructions. Once the hamburger and cornbread stuffing were done, I poured the hamburger into my casserole dish and then spread the cornbread stuffing across the top. This dish is also good with a layer of cheese in the middle!

We all greatly enjoyed the Chilli Cornbread Stuffing Cornbread Casserole and I was so pleased! I even liked the Cornbread Stuffing by it's self! I didn't have to drown it in a different flavor or texture.

Ezio was unable to eat this dish due to his egg allergy, the cornbread stuffing does contain egg whites and I absolutely love the honesty and clearness of the ingredients in each of Glutinos products. They are all displayed clearly on the box as well as on their website for each individual product. Makes it so much easier for a family with food allergies to enjoy this brand of Gluten Free foods!

My family as a whole (aside from Ezio) were all pleased with the delicious tastes of the Glutino Gluten Free Cornbread Stuffing on top of our favorite Chilli Cornbread dish. It gave a nice twist to one of our favorite dinners. Sometimes even your absolute favorite meal becomes boring when you make it exactly the same way.

Glutino Yogurt Covered Pretzels and Sugar Cookie Mix Review

Disclosure: We received these products in exchange for honest review, all opinions and experiences are 100% our own and may differ from those of your own.

Have you heard of Glutino? All of their products are gluten free and delicious!

We received a fun December package from Glutino which included a box of their Sugar Cookie mix and a bag of their Peppermint Yogurt Pretzels. We have yet to make the Sugar Cookies, I will be making them within the next few weeks and will post on the blog about how they are.

Glutino's Gluten Free Peppermint Yogurt Pretzels were beyond delicious! The crumbled peppermint coating the yogurt coating on the pretzels was the perfect mixture of both! This was one of the best Christmas time snacks I've tried in a long time. A nice crunch with a nice smooth yogurt melt and then another nice crunch of the pretzels.

Ezio did inspect the pretzels for a few minutes, we usually get the boys yogurt covered pretzels, but they'd never had candy on them too! He probably thought they were covered in crumbs or something. After trying one, I couldn't get him to stop wanting them! He was hooked, just like I knew he would be. Ezio, Dan and Cade shared the bag of pretzels, I got a few, but figured I might as well let the boys indulge in a healthier snack. And yes, you read correctly. Cade, my super 'picky' eater enjoyed the pretzels as well!

When we received this package we had not yet known about Ezio's peanut allergy, if we had he may not have been able to enjoy them as Glutino's notes that their pretzels may contain peanuts. Needless to say from what I remember he did okay with eating these pretzels. There are very few pretzel brands that Ezio can completely safely eat with out chance for a possible allergic reaction.

How could anyone resist delicious and healthy gluten free peppermint covered yogurt pretzels?

Namaste (Gluten-Free) Foods Review & Giveaway US 1/16

In the fall of 1999 a friend approached Daphne Taylor and was desperate for help in creating good gluten free and allergen free foods for herself as well as her preschool aged son so she started 'experimenting'. Daphne's creation had to be free of gluten, corn, soy, potato, dairy, casein, peanuts and tree nuts in order to meet her friend's dietary restrictions, what a challenge! Since Daphne is a chocolate lover she started with brownies. She made changes to a recipe she found on the back of a bag of unsweetened chocolate chips, with these changes she made her perfect first brownies meeting the demands of her friend's diet. Read more about the history of Namaste Foods here.

Pizza Crust & Chocolate Cake Mixes

We received a gluten-free Pizza Crust Mix ($4.89ARV) that makes two 14" crusts as well as a gluten-free Chocolate Cake Mix ($5.95ARV) that makes two 9" layer cakes. Both of these mixes as well as the rest of Namaste's Foods are free of gluten, wheat, soy, corn, potato, peanuts, tree nuts, dairy and casein, plus they are non-GMO and preservative free not to mention all natural.

We made a pizza with the Pizza Crust Mix, but have not yet made a Chocolate Cake. As some of you may know Ezio, my 2 year old is allergic to peanuts, chocolate (or possibly the egg they now use in chocolate), eggs and melon. We also believe he may be allergic to wheat, but we have been keeping a food log and will do more food allergy testing at the end of January. So for us, the Pizza Crust is perfect! It does not contain egg nor do you need to make the crust with egg! As we normally do not eat everything gluten-free I tried my best to keep all ingredients used for this pizza gluten-free. If you make gluten-free foods you may know that both of the Hormel meats are gluten-free. As for the Sargento cheese and Ragu pizza sauce the internet is indecisive on whether they are gluten-free or not, their packaging does not state whether they are or not and I did find that the Sargento All Natural cheese is gluten-free (I didn't see this when at the store). So, anyhow!

The pizza crust is super easy to make! You just measure out 2 cups of the mix, add some oil and water and mix it all up!! The dough is very moist and sticky, unlike non gluten-free dough which is full of flour and you can spin. But, that is okay, I shouldn't try to spin any dough! Once you've mixed up your pizza crust and have it to a doughy consistence then you evenly add it to your pizza pan. The bag it comes in recommends a 14" pan and to spread it no more then 1/4" thick. I don't have any pizza pans, but I do have a cookie sheet!

Spread the dough across the whole pan, phew! I had enough dough! I wasn't sure on the size of my cookie sheet and of course I didn't Google the measurements of a standard cookie sheet. But do you think it worked? I will admit, I was expecting me to have forgotten something or some how have horrible messed it up! Kind of like when I tried to make homemade, baked toddler biscuits... lets just say I was done making dough of any kind and baking for a little while after that.

It did!! The crust didn't burn to the pan (I sprayed it with non-stick cooking spray first) nor did it stick at all! Once the crust baked it did get smaller, but just maybe by an inch tops. The crust was hard after it baked by it's self. Then came the fun part... which became way out of hand! Putting the toppings on the pizza. Now mind you, we made this pizza as a family... everyone had a topping to put on the pizza. I add the sauce to the pizza and used the whole jar of Ragu. Then Cade helped me add the cheese... we ended up using two, 2 cup bags of cheese. After this Dan decided he wanted to add Jimmy Dean's breakfast sausage, diced up... not gluten-free. While Dan was cutting up the sausage Jedilynn was putting the Canadian Bacon on and I was helping Ezio put Pepperoni on the pizza. After all of this, Dan and I decided that the pizza probably needed more cheese... but it already had FOUR cups of cheese on it! Really? How much cheese do we need? So, of course, maybe since we are in Wisconsin, we added about a 1/2 cup of cheese to the very top of the pizza. So how did it turn out? How was the crust?

TADA! It was perfect and delicious, but I will admit we should not have used so much cheese. The cheese was a bit over powering. However, the crust did soften up. I think it sucked in some of the sauce which re-moistened the crust. I was rather pleased that Ezio was able to eat one of his favorite foods, PIZZA, without me having to have antihistamine ready for a reaction. Plus, it was so much more healthy then frozen pizza and such. Unfortunately Cade won't eat more then about five foods and pizza is not one of those five. Jedilynn is usually rather picky about pizza and I thought for sure she would not eat this pizza with three different meats on it. She did and asked for more! She usually says that pepperoni is spicy and such, but not a single complaint. Now Dan, doesn't like anything that is healthy for you and since he knew that the pizza crust was gluten-free as well as several ingredients on the pizza I was very surprised that he loved the pizza as well!

I was so thrilled that we made a pizza as a family and all of us loved it! Not a single complaint or anything. That is pretty unheard of here and I can't wait to make another pizza with the rest of the Namaste Foods' Gluten-Free Pizza Crust Mix with my family! It was a lot of fun as well as being delicious and healthy for all of us. It's nice to make a meal and not have to be worried that your two year old may have a reaction to it and not knowing just how severe the reaction may be.

As for the Chocolate Cake Mix!? I can't wait to make it, but I have to wait until Ezio is either visiting a family member or sleeping. He absolutely loves chocolate and there is no telling him he can't have it, he will not give up on trying to get/have some. So it's just easier to wait, plus it's not fair to him. Not that a two year needs to have chocolate whenever he wants, not saying that at all, but I know if I were allergic to something I loved I would not be happy if someone was eating it in front of me, yet telling me I couldn't have even a single bite.
I will do another post when I have made the Chocolate Cake!

WOWButter Review & Giveaway US 12/29

WOWBUTTER Foods is a small family business that is owned and operated by the Mahon family. They started out with the idea of creating unique natural foods grown on their own farms over 20 years ago! They wanted to be able to provide superior quality products by completing every step of the process in one facility.

WOWButter

We received a 6 pack of WOWButter ($27.99ARV). WOWButter is 100% peanut, tree nut, gluten, dairy and egg free!! It has the same taste, nutrition and texture of peanut butter just with out the peanuts! It is also NON-GMO. Available in creamy and crunchy and might even be in your local grocery store or natural foods store.

Ezio is 2 years old and LOVES peanut butter, however he was just tested for some food allergies and popped for peanuts. While most probably think this means taking it all away, it does not exactly. While you do have to stay away from peanuts, there is this very delicious WOWButter! I honestly have no clue how they could possibly make this NON peanut, WOWButter taste JUST like peanut butter! But they did and Ezio loves it. I am so very thankful for WOWButter and as you can tell in the photos above so is Ezio. I don't know how this little boy of mine would survive without his peanut butter bread that he has every couple days to every day. One of the best things about WOWButter, beside of course being peanut free is that it is also egg free, which Ezio also popped for on his allergy test. Do you have any idea how much stuff either contain peanuts, chocolate and eggs or could possibly be cross contaminated with any of those by being made in the same facility as them?! It is definitely challenging finding things that will for sure be completely safe for him to consume. While his reactions to both are not full blown anaphylaxis right now, allergic reactions do become worse/more severe with each exposure to that allergen. He is also allergic to melon, but that is much more simple to avoid! After our appointment with the allergist and finding out about these allergies I kind of freaked my mom out when I was talking with her on the phone and told her he was eating a peanut butter sandwich... in reality he was eating a WOWButter sandwich.

Cade is not allergic to anything, but did have what could be a false positive to tree nuts, so WOWButter being tree nut free as well is also a big plus for us. While Cade's allergy to tree nuts could be a false positive we have been advised to avoid them anyhow, which we've been doing. Cade's allergy has been known for about 2 years now. He is perfectly fine eating peanut butter and absolutely love peanut butter bread, but since Ezio is allergic to peanuts we also give Cade the WOWButter and he hasn't noticed a difference in taste at all. Cade has sensory/texture issues or something of the sort with food and only eats maybe a handful of things with peanut butter bread being one of those very few foods. I was very pleased to learn that WOWButter is just as nutritious as peanut butter because while peanut butter isn't something one should probably live off of, it is the main source of protein and other things for Cade due to his very restricted diet he has created for himself.

So you might be wondering, if Cade is not allergic to peanut butter then why give him WOWButter? Well, it is much safer to completely eliminate peanut butter from the house rather then just from Ezio. For example, if I give Cade a piece of peanut butter bread and he wonders off with it or leaves it on the table Ezio could very well end up with that piece of peanut butter bread, which would be no bueno! While some may say to just keep a close eye on them, it's not always possible when you have three kids and so much to get done in one day!

My family is so thankful for WOWButter!! When we first received WOWButter we had no clue about Ezio's peanut or egg allergy, we just found out this past week. WOWButter is also SCHOOL SAFE! I've been hearing that there are schools with actual BANS on bringing peanut butter products in? I remember when I was in school and we'd get a roll and a little paper ketchup cup with some peanut butter in it along with our breakfast. It is quite amazing how much things have changed. It may seem like banning peanut butter all together in a school is a bit extreme, but you have to realize how severe and life threatening some children's peanut allergies are. I've heard of some children or even adults, allergic to peanuts and going into anaphylaxis just from smelling or touching it and not even ingesting any of it! So the bans are in place to help keep these children safe while in school. We all want our children to be safe in school, whether it's from bullies or a severe food allergy and making that child eat separately from the rest of his or her classmates is just not fair.

WOWButter has TONS more information as well as information for you to provide to your child's school in the event that his or her school may have one of these bans in place. Plus, help educate your local school with some of the WOWButter information available on their website.

Kernel Season's Popcorn Seasonings Review & Giveaway! ($45ARV) Cont. US 12/28

Brian Taylor was a college student at the University of Michigan and wanted a way to add some pop to his favorite snack, popcorn. So he started to mix what later became the original Kernel Season's recipe while living on campus. He teamed up with a flavor expert to perfect the recipes and began to develop a seasoning line. In 2005, Kernel Season's Popcorn Seasoning "popped" overseas, shaking up the flavor in grocery stores, movie theaters and millions of homes around the globe. Kernel Season's is the leader in popcorn-seasoning and has even more flavors and on-shelf innovation coming soon!

We received a package worth $45 of Kernel Season's products, including Butter Spritzers, Seasonings and Popcorn. All Kernel Season's products are Gluten Free, Certified Kosher and are all natural! Yes, nothing artificial.

Kernel Season's popcorn seasonings are over the top! Seriously, I just expected a couple basic cheese seasonings, but that comes no where near these! Milk Chocolate and Caramel seasoning?! Yes, you did read that correctly! It is so very tasty! Cade loved his "choclate poptcorn"! One of the best things about these seasonings is that they are not just good popcorn! You can get creative and add any of them that your heart desires to things such as baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, spice up those boring potato chips or even better make your own homemade potato chips and use a Kernel Season's as a flavoring for them! The possibilities are endless! Turn your "boring" microwaved popcorn into delicious popcorn and even give it that amazing Kettle Corn flavor with a Kernel Season's seasoning. The seasonings have a shelf life of 18 months, so you don't have to worry about if you're going to use it all right away or not.

Dan made a makeshift dinner the other night and we had no cheese, but we wanted cheesy rice and chicken so he used I believe the Nacho Cheddar seasoning and it worked!! It was very cheesy and you could definitely tell that the seasoning mix is made with real cheese. I was quite skeptical of his dish, but ate it and really liked it, even our semi-picky daughter ate it.

I have not made the Popping Corn just yet as we only have cheapo-generic vegetable oil and I want to make it with something better so it tastes good! But we have made the microwaveable popcorn and added some of the seasoning to them. All of us love popcorn! We received light as well as natural microwaveable popcorn and they both tasted great. I'm kind of iffy when trying new and healthier things, I know what I like and most of it is "junk". However, I was very pleased with both of these pop corns and I preferred the natural over the light. The Popping Corn is going to be great because we can add our own desired amount of butter so it's not overly buttery or doesn't have enough butter like some microwaveable pop corns.

Movie Theatre Butter! Oh how I love the! Seriously, Movie Theatre Butter is my absolute FAVORITE! I was so excited when I opened our package and seen that bottle of butter! It is 100% Natural Butter Flavored!! I've used the Popcorn Spritzer Butter on some foods and even on biscuits. I swear we either have 10 packs of butter in this house or not a single stick of butter. I've also added a bit of the butter to microwaveable butter to help the seasonings stick a bit better.

Kernel Season's would make Christmas parties even better! Pop some fresh Popping Corn and add the popping and topping oil along with a variety of different flavors! Don't serve boring salt and butter pop corn, spice it up a bit some of Kernel Season's seasonings and share the experience of "experimenting" with popcorn with your holiday guests!

Learn more about these boxes here

Starter Box
We received a Starter Box ($33/month) from Healthy Surprise to try out a variety of their snacks.

Am I just weird or do you like when things are nicely packaged like this? It was the first thing I noticed when I opened my Starter Box from Healthy Surprise. After admiring the packaging of the snacks, I uncovered delicious snacks!

We received Hail Merry Macaroons, Nibnaks Cranberry Tarts, Caveman Nuts, Veggie Chips, Beanitos Bean Chips, Spicy Beet Jerky, an organic Brownie, Just Fruit Bar, a fruit pouch and sun dried tomatoes.

First of all, I've never eaten beets, but my mom talked me into trying the Spicy Beet Jerky. It wasn't bad, but the spicy is an after taste! I took a bite and wondered how it was spicy and then it bit my tongue right back. It wasn't an over powering spiciness, but it was definitely there. My mom likes to take snacks to work with her to munch on so I let her take the tomatoes, the nuts and the macaroons. I'm not a real big tomato fan, but she said that they were good. The macaroons she loved! I'm not a coconut fan, it's a texture issue for me.

Cade and Ezio greatly enjoyed the Beanitos and Veggies chips, I love that I could give the boys chips which they love any and all chips and to also know that they are eating something healthy for them instead of junk. Ezio ate most of the other stuff and shared the cranberries with Cade. I loved having all of these healthy snacks for the boys! Not having to worry about soy was also another plus, I'd rather the boys not have soy.
