Old Time Candy Company: 1970's Decades 4lb Box Review

Disclosure: We received the below products in exchange for our honest review. All opinions and experiences are our own and may vary from yours.

Old Time Candy

Old Time Candy is located in LaGrange, Ohio and owned by Karen and Donny Ray. They grew up in the late fifties and early sixties. Back in 1999 they walked into a large candy store in Cleveland, Ohio, that's when this all started. This store specialized in old time candy, Karen and Donny had no idea that many of their old time favorites still existed. They went online in early 2000 with their first candy assortment and began to grown. In 2003, they moved into a larger facility and expanded at the beginning of 2004. Then again in 2006 they moved into a much larger facility and this is where they've been located since. 2015 marks the 15th Anniversary for their candy business.

1970's Decades Box (4lbs)

I was so excited when I was presented the opportunity to choose and review a Decade's Box from Old Time Candy Co. They offer Decade's Boxes from 1990 all the way back to 1920! I knew right away which decade I wanted, I chose 1970's. My mom isn't a huge chocolate fan and after receiving this box of candies from her childhood I can see why, there wasn't nearly as much chocolate in this box as we have today. I'm also not big on chocolate so it was a win win for us. My mom was pretty excited when I received the box and went to share with her. There were definitely some candies that she hadn't seen in years and didn't know they were still being made. My grandma also loved the candies in this box, she's always had a sweet tooth.

Our 1970's Decades Box included;

100 Grand Bar, Atomic Fire Balls, BB Bats, Bit-O-Honey, Blow Pops, Boston Baked Beans, Bottle Caps, Bubble Gum Cigars, Butterscotch Disks, Candy Buttons on paper tape, Candy Cigarettes, Candy Necklace, Candy Ring, Caramel Creams (Bull's Eyes), Charleston Chew, Charms Assorted Squares, Charms Sweet Pops, Chick-o-Stick, Cinnamon Disks, Dubble Bubble Gum, French Chew Taffy, Fruit Stripe Gum, Gobstoppers, Good & Plenty, Home Run Baseball Gum, Hershey Special Dark Bar, Hot Dog Bubble Gum, Hot Tamales, Jawbreakers, Kit Kat, Kits Taffy, Laffy Taffy, Lemonheads, Lik-M-Aid Fun Dip, Lollies, Marshmallow Ice Cream Cones, Mike & Ike, Necco Wafers, Now & Laters, Peanut Butter Bars, Pixy Stix, Pop Rocks, Razzles, Red Hots, Reese's Pieces, Ring Pops, Rolo, Sixlets, Smarties, Peppermint Sticks, Sugar Daddy, Swedish Fish, Tootsie Pop Drops, Tootsie Pops, Tootsie Roll, Wax Bottles (Nik-L-Nips), Wax Lips, Whatchamacallit, York Peppermint Patties and Zotz Sours.

For a detailed candy list for all decades please visit Old Time Candy's Typical Decade Candy List.

Every devoured the candies in this box. It was quite funny watching my 9 year old and 5 year old asking, "What is this?" about so many candies. My daughter tried Wax Bottles for the first time, my grandma and my boys enjoyed the Marshmallow Ice Cream Cones and so much more. I couldn't believe how quick this candy disappeared. As you can see above, I was left with lots of empty wrappers.

A decade's box would be a wonderful surprise for your parents or grandparents. It would also be fun to share old memories of old time candies with your own children, they probably haven't seen, tasted or even heard of about half the candies from your childhood.

Another thing I loved from my 9 year old daughter, "These candies are that old?!". Yes honey, most candies have been around at least as long as I've been alive and I'm only 26 years old.

Ferrara Candy Company CHUCKLES® Jelly Candies Review & Comedy Sports Tickets DEAL!

Disclosure: I received samples in exchange for my honest review. All opinions and experiences are my own and may differ from those of your own.

Ferrara Candy Company started out as a family-owned business has now evolved into a growing, Chicago based confectionary powerhouse after it merged with Farley and Sathers. The combination of talents from these two companies has helped create a stronger and more thriving business.  Ferrara Candy Company has a line of treats both classic and current and they have brought them together to enjoy a bright future.

CHUCKLES®

Way back in 1921, Fred Amend created CHUCKLES®. Jelly candies lightly coated in a layer of sugar. CHUCKLES® come in cherry, lemon, lime, orange and licorice.

We received a box of 24 Originals Packages, a box of 24 Chuckles minis packages and a 10oz bag of Chuckles Minis. That's about five pounds worth of Chuckles and oh they were all so very delicious!

My grandpa got me hooked on Chuckles and other sugar coated jelly candies, they were his favorite and he always had some sort of jelly candy. When I received my package of Chuckles I showed my mom and I think she may have even done a little jig, she was way more excited than I had expected her to be. I should have recorded her reaction. She loves the licorice Chuckles and I do not, so I put all of the black Chuckles into a baggie for her. Of course I shared packages of all the colors of Chuckles with her as well. I shared some with my grandma and my kiddos as well. There wasn't a single person out of about ten people who I shared our Chuckles with that didn't like them. I'm not a real big sweets or candy fan, but I've eaten my fair share of these Chuckles!

They are a hit whether you're 3 years old or 65 years old and probably even older!

I haven't seen Chuckles in stores around here in forever, turns out it's because I remembered the Originals bright yellow packaging and through Ferrara's Product Finder it appears that only the Cherry Fruit Slices are available here. Those are in a red package.

SweeTARTS Soft & Chewy Ropes Review & Game

Disclosure: I received the below items for free in exchange for my honest review via Smiley360. All opinions and experiences are my own and may differ from those of your own.

SweeTARTS Soft & Chewy Ropes Review

We received two packages of SweeTARTS Soft & Chewy Ropes in Fruit Punch flavor. SweeTARTS Soft & Chewy Ropes are a delicious licorice rope with a sweet and tart fused flavor blast in the center creating a mouthwatering one of a kind licorice! The texture is unbelievable smooth, it is delightfully chewy. It is NOT tough nor does it taste waxy. These are a great treat for anytime. Whether at home surfing the web, at the movies or even at the beach, these would be the perfect snack for everyone in the family.

NO artificial flavors or colors!

So there is this "Get Roped In" game... there are various tasks such as balancing a rope on your finger...  and the most hilarious was 'roll a rope from your forehead to your mouth without touching it"... my kiddos had fun with these, but they either dropped or ATE their rope before I could get a picture of them. I knew I should have just recorded them, but I seriously did not think these ropes would be gone in a matter just a slight few minutes!

YOU can grab a friend and a package of SweeTARTS Soft & Chewy Ropes and have your own game! See who can do any of the following:

-Balance a rope on a single finger

-Roll a rope from your forehead to your mouth without touching it

-Make a heart out of two ropes... or more for a larger heart

-Balance a rope on your nose

-Put a rope on your chin and roll it to your mouth without touching

**Hold a rope between your top lip and nose and take a picture of your ropestash!**

Come up with some 'challenges' of your own and leave them in the comments below.

My kiddos and I absolutely love licorice, but I'm thinking these ropes might be our new favorite! The smooth, sweet and tangy tastes and texture are the perfect mix for a delicious snack.
