Maggie Bags are made with automotive seat belt webbing that is built to
meet government safety standards to protect us in our cars. With the
governments high standards, millions of yards of seat belt material are
rejected each year by automakers. So Maggie Bags uses as much of these
rejected materials as possible to create their durable seat belt purses
and handbags. Maggie Bags launched their first line of these beautiful seat belt handbags in the spring of 2009 with only a handful of retailers and a small online store. However, today their fashionable and functional seat belt purses can be found in hundreds of retailers across the United States as well as many online retail stores and their very own online store. Maggie Bags began with their parent company, Adrian's Inc., launching their Tennessee Webbing Products in 1991, this has helped keep millions of yards of narrow fabrics out of landfills ever since.
Confetti Combo Campus Tote
The Maggie Bags Confetti Combo Campus Tote retails at $84, it features an array of colors of seat belt webbing. The entire outside, all four sides, the bottom and straps are made securely with the seat belt webbing. This handbag is not only fashionable and multipurpose, but also very durable. You can use this handbag as a purse, things for the beach, books for school, etc.
There are four nickle plated feet on the bottom of the handbag. These help to keep the bottom of the bag from becoming torn up from setting it on the ground and such by raising the bottom of the handbag off of the floor a bit so it is not sitting flush against the ground. They help to keep the handbag durable and last longer.
The inside of the Campus Totes are lined with Maggie Bags Signature Satin Lining and has a secure and durable zipper closure.
There is a fairly large zippered pocket on the inside, which I find great for important cards such as credit/debit cards and appointment reminder cards as well as any other business cards. I also use this pocket for cash and it's great for change, not too deep so your not searching all around for loose change.
There are also two closure free pockets on the other side of the inside of the handbag. These pockets I use for keys, my cell phone and camera.
I use my Maggie Bags Confetti Combo Campus Tote as a diaper bag when I have the kids with me. When using it as a diaper bag I can fit about 6 cloth diapers, 3 for
each of my two boys as well as 1-2 outfits for each of them and I still
have a little room left over. If I run to the store by myself, I usually walk, so I use this as a bag to carry things in that I've purchased. It is much better and easier to walk back home with this over my shoulder then to carry grocery bags around my wrists and hands leaving them red and sore. I was able to carry two 2-liters, a half gallon of milk as well as some small snacks inside of this bag. Just filled it up, tossed it on my shoulder and home I went. It was kind of heavy, obviously, but so much better then the grocery bags. Not to mention I felt no pulling or distress on the bag it's self, very durable, unlike thin plastic grocery bags which would have probably broke or started to rip not even half ways home. Also, Dan commented when I got back with, "Wow. That was quick.", as I normally end up having to stop a few times to readjust the bags or give my hands and wrists a break. I have a rare form of arthritis and carrying anything heavy in my hands or on my wrists for a long period of time ends up hurting quite a bit.
I love my Maggie Bags Confetti Combo Campus Tote! Jedilynn, my 7 year old daughter has asked me if she could use this handbag to take her clothes in to other family members houses as she is always gone through out summer break, unfortunately I was a "mean" mom and had to tell her no. I don't get much for myself and anything girly, I always end up sharing with her. This one is mom's and only mom's, sorry honey!

ReplyDeleteI didn't even know you could make a bag with car's seat belts!!! It's awesome and beautiful ;)
ReplyDeleteI like the butterfly bag in black.
ReplyDeleteI liked the butterfly bag. It is an attractive design, but I especially liked the pocket on the inside - and the outside 'pocket' for my cell phone.
ReplyDeleteBut I do think the Campus Tote is pretty with all the colors. And it too has pockets where I can put my cell phone and my keys -- two things I have to dig for in most purses.
A wonderful idea to use seat belts!
i love the Butterfly Bag in dark chocolate. but all of maggie bags are great!!
ReplyDeleteI am just so impressed with Maggie Bags - "green," stylish and practical all at the same time. I cannot wait until I get one, ideally a Campus Tote or a Butterfly.
ReplyDeleteI like that the company keeps millions of yards of webbing out of landfill and produces a beautiful product with it instead.

ReplyDeleteI love the way they are made from seat belts and I love the silky satin lining. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI already have a Maggie Bag but it is used as a diaper bag. I love that it has the satin lining and the zip closure. It doesn't hurt that it is so durable that I have had mine almost a year and it looks brand new! I would love to have a second one just to use for every day for myself and not as a diaper bag!
ReplyDeleteI'm really digging this tote bag...it would be perfect to bring back to school this fall! Think it could hold a nursing school textbook or two? I bet my binder could fit in there at least! I also really like the messenger bag and the butterfly bag I saw on the site.
ReplyDeleteHi Cassie! I'm was a Med student and I would definitely say a binder as well as one or two text books if not more would fit!! :)
DeleteI'm a huge fan of Maggie Bags - though due to my own pocketbook problems - I have yet to be the proud owner of one ; = (
ReplyDeleteI have quite a few favorites (aren't the colors all awesomely breathtaking?) - one tote I would love to have is the :http://store.maggiebags.net/bailey-bag/ - in ALL colors - especially Maritime, Sorbet and Black Cherry!
Thanks for the helpful review - I learned that the interior of Maggie Bags is ALMOST as gorgeous as the outside!

I learned that Maggie Bags are made from automotive seat belt webbing and because of the high standards for seat belts, millions of yards are rejected for not meeting those standards. It is from this rejected webbing that most of the bags are made of. Some are made from new webbing when there is not enough of the rejected webbing to meet Maggie Bags demand.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely NEED the butterfly bag! It's so big and durable and can fit everything I need! However the campus tote is what first caught my attention when I first learned about Maggie Bags. Overall this line is amazing! -april9010@gmail.com
