Hugo The Happy Starfish - IT'S GOOD TO BE ME! eBook Review

Disclosure: I received this product in exchange for my honest review. All opinions and experiences are my own and may differ from those of your own.

It's Good To Be Me!
Hugo The Happy Starfish - It's Good To Be Me ($5.99ARV) is an Award-Winning Finalist in the Children's Mind/Body/Spirit category of the USA "Best Books 2011" Awards.

"Happiness Begins Within"

Hugo is a little starfish with a big heart. Everyday he makes other creatures happy and doing so makes Hugo happy. One day however, he begins to feel small and ugly, convinced that nobody like him. When granted some magic wishes he decides to change a few things he doesn't like about himself.  Hugo learns a great lesson and once those changes are made he wishes he could be himself again. Join Hugo on this adventure as he discovers that being himself is the best way to be, and the only way to be happy.

It's Good To Be Me! is a story about the importance of self-esteem when striving to be a happy and successful person. This story is a goof way to teach children about having a healthy self-esteem and to be happy with the way they are. It teaches appreciation and five senses.

My children are ages nine, five and three a positive self image is imperative at all ages and it's never too soon to start reading a book such as Hugo's It's Good To Be ME!. Often we forget to talk about emotions, how to handle certain situations, etc. Hugo's stories help fill in those often forgotten gaps. While things such as appreciating yourself and having self confidence seem like second nature, we've all learned different things at different points in our lives that we've used to help develop our own self worth.

With having a nine year old daughter, I feel it's even more important to help teach her to be confident in herself, positive self-esteem, etc. These books are not too "young" of reads for her and she often enjoys reading them by herself as well as to her brothers. She even goes as far as explaining some things to her brothers while reading them and will give me examples from real life situations in which she has faced.

Hugo the Happy Starfish "One Step At A Time" Children's eBook Review

Disclosure: I received the below product in exchange for my honest review. All opinions and experiences are my own and may differ from your own.

One Step At A Time

"One Step At A Time" is a story about the need for perspective, whatever mountains we face. This is the perfect story to teach children to divide big challenges into little chunks and to take things one step at a time. Children, parents and educators will discover with Hugo, a loveable and engaging role model with whom they can identify. This story has 28 gorgeous illustrations showing a colorful and magical underwater world. One Step At A Time is a great book for reading aloud with preschools or as a self-read book for older children. In addition to the book you can download several worksheets at no cost, just visit My Starfish

There are many Hugo The Happy Starfish stories. Some additional titles include, The Secret to Happiness, The Last Bully, The Magic of the Moment, It's Good To Be Me! and many more. Through Hugo's adventures, he learns many valuable lessons of character, life skills and ecological alertness, all amid the backdrop of a magical underwater world and mystical islands. The stories were developed in conjunction with the author's teaching experience at an International Baccalaureate School and they support the different learner profiles and attitudes of the IB PYP curriculum.

One Step At A Time - Happiness Begins One Step At A Time ($5.99ARV) is a wonderful story to help teach commitment. Hugo is a little starfish with a big sense of adventure. One day he finds an empty candy wrapper with a picture of a huge chocolate mountain. Usually when Hugo finds trash in the ocean it upsets him but this time what he found made him curious. Hugo discovers that his chocolate mountain is in fact a real mountain, which is called the Matterhorn and is located in Switzerland. He decides to set off on a journey to find this mountain. A huge challenge for a little starfish. Hugo learns to take one step at a time and to enjoy the journey as much as the destination. Join Hugo as he finds the secret of perseverance when the road gets difficult.

Beautiful art work and encouragement to children in every Hugo The Happy Starfish book! My children are 9, 5 and 3 years old and they all love the Hugo books. We currently have three Hugo The Happy Starfish books and the kids want more. While I'm not usually keen on ebooks, with having a destructive 3 year old having these books as ebooks has helped to preserve them. No damage and they will always be available to "redownload" if needed.

Hugo The Secret To Happiness eBook Review

Hugo The Happy Starfish - The Secret To Happiness eBook is a very cute and fun read about a little starfish named Hugo who finds his life dull. He is tired of feeling sad so one day he sets off to find happiness. After searching for a while he discovers something that makes his heart do somersaults. Sharing with others is the only thing that makes Hugo truly happy and all other things just made him feel better for a little while.

This is a great book as us adults, whether parents, grandparents or caregivers of another nature all strive to help teach children the benefits of sharing within our communities. This eBook helps to encourage children to give, which helps to teach them about empathy as well as a sense of social responsibility. Some children can even feel empowered by sharing and giving to others.

My children are great at sharing and my daughter is a little too giving in my opinion. She will give her friends things of her own even if she really likes the item(s). We always have to watch her closely in the mornings before she heads off to the bus stop other wise when she returns home, something that she took with will probably no longer be in possession. While I love the fact that my children are sharing and giving to others, they still need to hold onto their things as well. This book about Hugo The Happy Star Fish and his experience with sharing and the explanation of his feelings while giving and sharing seemed to help open a new door for Jedilynn. She began talking out about her own feelings and such when she gives and shares with other, whether they are friends at school or her brothers. It was a nice way to have a discussion about the way she feels about this. I personally believe all children should discuss their feelings about any and all of their actions and I love that this book helped us to discuss this topic.

All three of the kids love this book, however since Jedilynn is 7 and the boys and toddlers, she understood it better. Cade, who is 3.5 years old did mention a few different ways he recently shared something with his baby brother. I was quite impressed that he was able to understand and respond with a relevant event to the story we were reading.

This book is available in SEVEN different languages! How fun is that!

This eBook is available for download on the Kindle Fire on Amazon. There is a FREE Kindle Fire App that you can download on almost any device! We read this eBook through my Kindle Fire App on my Window's 8 laptop, which it came with it already downloaded.
