Amwell
We've all had those times were our little one(s) and ourselves are sick or we're exhausted from tending to our sick child. The last thing we want to do is bundle up our cranky child and take them to the doctor's office. We are all more comfortable at home. I know with our pediatrician, 99% of the time when I call even for a simple question and I have their care at home under control, they almost always tell me, "Well, bring him/her in so the doctor can see them.". We love our pediatrician, but he's in the busiest area and heaven forbid it be lunch time, then the 20 minute drive turns into 45 minutes.
Or another circumstance that I've been in, is that I'm very sick and home by myself with the kids with no way to get to the doctor's office. I typically become dehydrated when I'm sick, so I become fairly weak (there still is no rest for mom, but being at home is much better than the alternative) and in no shape to take the city bus or even a taxi cab with three perfectly healthy and rambunctious children. Let alone have to sit in the waiting room and then try to listen to doctor and control the children all at the same time.
In either situation I have definitely wished that there were still doctors who did home visits. I mean that has to be such a wonderful thing to have, right?! Why don't we have them anymore? Well, think again! We do now with Amwell.
Amwell will definitely make it easier to talk to a doctor when you need to. Visit Amwell and set up your account. You can select and connect with a physician, all Amwell physicians are U.S. educated, board certified and have been hand selected, trained and certified specifically in telehealth to delivery the best possible experience for you. Amwell is just $49 per visit.
With Amwell you can talk to a doctor via phone, online chat or even video. You can search for a specific doctor and even learn more about them as where and how long they went to college. Watch the video above for more information about Amwell or visit their website.
Amwell also has a Local Exchange of Pediatricians. This allows you to schedule visits with your own doctor, or immediate visits with local pediatricians based on their availability. Personally, I greatly prefer my children to be seen by their own pediatrician or at least a pediatrician rather than a family doctor or general practitioner. My reasoning is because pediatricians specifically study and work on a daily basis with children, rather than general medical studies.
Amwell is over all a wonderful and very useful tool for parents. Mothers can stay in the comforts of their own homes with their child and speak with a doctor via online chat, over the phone or video. It's the new home visiting doctor. So come check out Amwell for your self, creating an account is free so set one up as a just in case. You can also use this code, CARENOW11, for a free visit.
Would you use Amwell for yourself or your child(ren)? What do you like most about Amwell?

I would use this for myself if they took insurance. (I'm disabled & getting to the doctor's office is a chore.) But I agree that I would prefer a child see a pediatrician who is familiar with them...and in person. Of course, if you are away from home & it is a minor problem, I could see using this.
ReplyDeleteI've been hearing so many amazing things about Amwell. I think the connivence of it is just amazing <3
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing service and so affordable, not sure we have one in the uk but love the idea behind it
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the idea of going to the doctor from the comfort of my own home. It's like doctors who make house calls and I think it's great.
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful idea! I know there are a lot of times when we just need a quick Doctor visit, but I don't want to expose my son to all the germs in the waiting room or have to sit there waiting forever trying to keep him entertained.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a good idea for those of use who hate going into an actual doctor. I may have to look into it!
ReplyDeleteI just used Amwell the day before Thanksgiving! I couldn't be more pleased with them! It turned out that my doctor stopped practicing at the office I usually go to and for me to get my perscription refilled I had to be established as a new patient and they couldn't get me in for an appointment until Dec 16th. That just didn't work for me. So I used Amwell and got my perscription that day! It was awesome!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds pretty awesome! Glad it all worked out for you.
DeleteSuch a convenient option if you can't get to the doctor. Although I do hope I never have to use it.
ReplyDeleteWe could have definitely used this not too long ago! What a great service. I think this is going to be a huge hit for any family!
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing better than seeing a doctor from the comfort of your own home. I love that this is an option.
ReplyDeleteAmwell is really giving you an easier access to doctors. You can get consults faster and more affordable.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately our state doesn't allow online physician visits. But, I love this idea that you can schedule with your own pediatrician. If I could, I would totally use that one.
ReplyDeleteI just don't know how I feel about "seeing" a doctor online. I feel like in person visits are just too important!!
ReplyDeleteI have yet to use this but I think it's a fantastic service! I think it's ideal for every day ailments.
ReplyDeleteI have always been nervous to try these online doctor visits. But, with a free visit, what do I have to lose?
ReplyDeleteYes! I love this program. I for one hate waiting at the clinic only to get a prescription or to be told to "get some rest" lol
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting idea! I know there have been times when this sure would have come in handy. Not to sure how this would work if you actually needed something checked...

Life With Lorelai
What a great idea. We go on vacation with our pediatrician so we get spoiled, but this makes me happy that they offer this service.

I've heard lots of great things about Amwell. It sounds like an awesome service for busy families and individuals. So convenient.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of Amwell. I would really like to check it out the next time one of us is sick. It's hard working full time an hour away from home and trying to figure out how to get my child to the Doctor.
