Krusteaz Flatbread Mix Review

Disclosure: I received the following products in exchange for my honest review. All opinions and experiences are my own and may differ from those of your own.

Krusteaz
Krusteaz was founded in 1932 by women of the Seattle Bridge Club with their idea for an easy-to-make pie crust. Krusteaz's name is a clever combination of "crust" and "ease". It has since come to stand for home-baked and convenient fresh-from-the-oven goodness. In the 1940's they introduced the Krusteaz "just add water" Pancake Mix which has a unique concept for it's time and is one of the products that Krusteaz is most well known for today. Then in the 1960's they spread the word about their pancake mix: the Krusteaz Kurtesy Kitchen, a fully-equipped "traveling diner" that served up free pancake breakfasts throughout the Northwest. Through out the years their product line has expanded to include biscuits, muffins, brownies, breads, desserts and so much more for an ever increasing loyal following practically any place people enjoy delicious pancakes and baked goods in their homes, restaurants, our armed forces and even the brand of choice served to the thousands of hungry workers who built the Alaska Pipeline!

 Krusteaz Flatbread Mix Review
Dan used the Krusteaz Flatbread Mix to make a pizza with, he did so on his own and while he isn't always all that great at reading and following box directions it still turned out tasting great! He made the dough and also used the yeast which comes with the mix. I do not believe he allowed the dough to rest as you are supposed to and when he spread the dough for the pizza he did not separate it and spread it in a thinner manner. However, whatever way he did spread the dough was perfect for the pizza he made!

After spreading the dough on a cookie sheet, he added pizza sauce, pepperonis, diced tomatoes and chilies as well as bacon bits and then of course the cheese. I was rather surprised that his toppings of choice really did taste darn good on this flatbread "crust".

The dough or crust was so fluffy and airy, I absolutely loved it! I will definitely be making it the next time, but I can't wait to buy more of this flatbread mix and make more pizzas with it. I know if it is made properly it will have a completely different texture, but that is a-okay. I only got two pieces of the flatbread pizza because we all loved it so much! Dan, myself and two of our children all devoured it and we were all wanting more!

Next time I make this flatbread mix I will be dividing the dough as suggested on the box's directions and I will leave one of the doughs just as flatbread. I'm sure my very picky eater will love it plain or probably even with peanut butter on it, despite the flavor of the flatbread.

I have some more Krusteaz mixes to review, those will be coming soon so keep your eye open for those. I can't wait to try some more Krusteaz products!

  5. I have never had flat bread before. I love the idea of a flat bread pizza, we have pizza a couple times a month for dinner. I think my kids would have fun making the dough for the pizza as a family dinner.
