The Shrunks Tuckaire Kids Travel Bed Review

The Shrunks was created in 2007 by David Cirjak, a proud father of three as well as the company's Managing Director. Perry Chua has been involved in the company from pretty early on, he is a father of two and joined the team as the Creative Director in 2010! "The Shrunks"? Yes, while brainstorming on a name, they discussed what their brand stood for - "To help kids gain confidence, to make bedtime fun and safe for them again." So someone in their brainstorm group said "shrink", as in a psychiatrist as you would see one when dealing with issues such as fear. Through more brainstorming on the white board and writing different variations of "shrink", the "i" quickly became a "u", turning "shrink" into "shrunk". They chose shrunk as it can mean many things on it's own, two of being: to reduce fear as well as make small (like kids), etc.

Indoor Tuckaire Kids Travel Bed

The Indoor Tuckaire Kids Travel Bed ($99ARV) comes with the air mattress, carry bag and electric pump. This bed is for children from 6 years old and up, but The Shrunks also have an Indoor Tuckaire Toddler Travel Bed which is for children from about 2 years old through 6 years old. One of the great things about this air mattress is that with it's Tuckaire design features it can fit a standard twin size sheet, so no special sheets needed, just snugly tuck your twin sheets in and around the inner air mattress. They don't even touch the floor thanks to this! This Indoor Kids travel Bed is Phthalates-safe, BPA-safe and Lead safe.

The air pump is really easy to use. As you can probably see in the picture the top of the pump says inflate and deflate, meaning you can do both with this pump. It has different size "nozzle" attachments as well.

Yes, the mattress really does blow up in one minute! It really didn't even seem like it took a full minute either.










Everything fits nicely in the travel bag. I folded the sides of the mattress inwards (as if I were folding a letter to put in an envelop, except long ways), then I rolled it up and put it in the bag. I put the air pump bag in the bubble bag that it was shipped in and there was enough room left in the bag on top of the mattress for the air pump to go there and then of course the instructions, patches and warranty card.

The bed inflates in just one minute! Since it is not over sized you don't have to wait forever with a tired and probably crabby child who just wants to go to sleep or is just too excited about their new bed!

We may use this as a temporary bed for Ezio until we are able to get new hardware for his toddler bed. We accidentally misplaced the hardware for it so unfortunately at the moment he is still sleeping in the pack n play. We are going to Iowa Summer 2014 for a family reunion and will definitely be bringing this along for one or two of our children. The cabins we will be staying in, sleep 8 - 10 people, but bringing a nice and simply air mattress such as the Tuckaire Kids Travel Bed from The Shrunks will be more then worth it! It doesn't take up much room at all, light weight, super quick and easy to both inflate as well as deflate and also to get back in the bag!!! We have tried a few other air mattress' and they NEVER went back in their travel bag or even the box that they came in! It was impossible, but putting this one away literally took me maybe 5 minutes tops!

We set it up in the living room for the boys to watch a movie on since our couches are kind of positioned weird. They loved it! I didn't put a sheet on it and a sheet really is not needed as it has a soft velvety top to it. If it were just bare plastic I'd definitely cover it.

 Silly boys we happy as they were comfortable and didn't have to lay down on a blanket on the hardwood flooring. The weight limit of this twin air mattress is 300lbs, this means that all three of my children could lay on here as well as Dan or myself, not that there would be enough room on it to lay comfortably though! NO air leaked out of this air mattress, other ones that we have tried in the past have either leaked slowly or had really thin lining so we had to use the patches and then duck tape to try and make them last longer, but not a single issue with this air mattress! I really like it as well as Dan and my children.
