Rebecca decided to start a cloth diapering store to provide others with the highest quality products with the best value and only offers products that she loves and has used as well. She has cloth diapered her own 5 children over the past 12 years and has learned a lot about what works and what just is not worth it. She was called "MomBecks" by her mother when she was younger as she was always such a little mother hen. The name just stuck and Rebecca is still MomBecks. MomBecks is located in the Colorado Springs area and you can contact Rebecca to set up an appointment and have a chance to 'look before you buy', what a great and fun opportunity for those new to cloth as well as those who have been using cloth, but would like to explore new products.
Newborn Cloth Diaper Rental Program at MomBecks
What a great way to get started with out the huge investment of start up costs! At MomBecks you can cloth diaper your newborn, from 6 to 12 pounds for only $10 per week and you will receive 24 Sandy's newborn fitted diapers and 4 Thirsties X-Small covers. This is a great way to get your foot in the water of the cloth diapering journey!
Thirsties Duo Wrap
Thirsties Duo Wraps ($12.25ARV) are available in eight solid colors and you have the option of snaps or aplix. They are also available in two different sizes, size 1 fits 6 to 18 pounds while size 2 fits 18 to 40
pounds. These wraps will last twice as long as your standard one size diaper cover. Thirsties Duo Wraps have exposed PUL so you can reuse them many times before needing to wash them. They also have double leg gussets, great for holding in those newborn pooplotions and other messes. You can use these wraps with trifolded prefolds, snappied prefolds and trim fitteds. Thirsties Duo Wraps are made in the US!
Ezio is 18 months old and 26 pounds. With the Size 2, Thirsties Duo Wrap on Ezio the rise is fully snapped down with a little room still. Even though it is fully snapped down with a little extra room, it still protects very well, whether I use a single snappied prefold, a snappied prefold with a trifolded smaller prefold as a doubler
and also great with different thickness fitted diapers.
Cade is 3 years old and 39 pounds. While he wears the Thirsties Duo Wrap the rise snaps are fully opened or sometimes snapped down one, depending on what I put under the cover. I usually use prefolds on Cade occasionally I'll use fitteds. Even though the wrap's rise snaps are fully opened there is still a ton of room for this wrap to continue to grow with Cade and I personally think it will fit for well past 40 pounds, although Cade is tall and fairly skinny, so on a shorter and chubby baby it will probably fit differently.
Both of the boys have sensitive skin and eczema. We've used some other covers with FOE/binding around the diaper and those other ones would leave red rashes on the boys thighs, but we've had NO issues with the FOE on this wrap! The aplix is very strong and very 'sticky'. I also love how the wings on this wrap are wide so they fully cover prefolds and fitteds around hips, unlike others we have tried.
When the FOE becomes damp, I just let it air dry and then we use it again at the next diaper change. If neither of the boys is wearing this cover to bed then I toss it in the wash when I do my diaper laundry at night, once they have gone to bed.
All in all, I love the Thirsties Duo Wrap! It is a great cover and protects against leaks from #1 and #2 great!
OsoCozy Cloth Wipes
OsoCozy Cloth Wipes ($9.75ARV) are made of unbleached cotton flannel and unbleached cotton terry with a multicolored surging around the edge and are super soft! These cloth wipes measure 8" x 8", thicker and more absorbent making for the perfect cloth wipes. These are made in Pakistan and come in packs of 12. They do need a little prepping, or maybe I should say prepping is recommended. They should be washed several times to strip off the natural oils and also so they can become more absorbent.
I have fairly large hands, for a girl any how. I absolutely love that these cloth wipes are larger then my hand! I have many cloth wipes that are smaller then my hand and you need many of those to get the job done. With the OsoCozy wipes, I only need one, sometimes two. So awesome! I don't make a wipe solution yet, all I do is get one or two wet, by running it under the water from the sink.
I always see charts for how much cloth diapers can save you per child or per year, but never seen anything about how much you can save if you use cloth wipes. From reading MomBeck.com I have learned that you will save around $500 per child when using cloth wipes! Also, cloth wipes don't really have a maximum life span or a point where they will no longer be useable like some diapers that contain PUL, so these would last through several children and save you tons of money! With two in diapers, when we were using disposable wipes we were spending about $15-$20 on wipes every 2 weeks or so and that was buying the cheapest wipes we could find that were okay with the boys' skin.
